The ultimate solution for maintaining your boat and keeping it clean and barnacle-free is to keep the boat completely out of the water altogether. Trailering your boat can be a chore, however... Every time you want to use your boat, you'll need to trailer it to a landing, place it in the water, then reverse the process when you're finished using the boat. Then there's the cleanup afterwards... And that's assuming that your boat is small enough to trailer and that you have a vehicle capable of towing your boat.
Leaving your boat in the water at a dock presents it's own problems - namely, the cost of the dock rental and the damage from marine growth causes to your boat's hull. The cost of zincs add up, too, and are a necessity for keeping your boat protected from corrosion. Most people who leave their boats in the water opt for bottom paint and the occassional visit from one of our experienced divers to regularly clean the hull. See our Hull Cleaning section for information on pricing.
Dry stacking your boat is also an option, but like trailering, can make your boat not always accessible, reducing the amount of time you can spend enjoying your boat. You've already paid for it, so why not use it to it's maximum?
AirBerth Boat Lift Storage Systems are your solution for keeping your boat protected from barnacles, oysters, marine fouling and organisms, and corrosion. There are several options on the market today for boat lifts, but none so suited for the marine environment as AirBerth. Check out this video to see why AirBerth is the leading boat storage system in the market today, and why it's the best solution for the care of your precious asset.
When you're done, check out some of the previous installations you'll see at docks worldwide.
Deep South Divers is the exclusive importer and distributor of AirBerth products in the United States. We can lift boats as large as 33,000 pounds (usually around 60 feet, depending on design) and can supply lifts for many hull and engine configurations - including deep draft, catamarans, and full inboard-equipped boats. Several units around the country are available for demonstration, so please contact us if you'd like to see one work. They're amazing:
- AirBerths are made ENTIRELY of high density polyethylene, the same material used for most dock floats on floating dock systems, except thicker and more dense. The design life for our lifts is 50 years, even in salt water installations. To our knowledge, ALL other floating boat lifts use metal structural parts, either galvanized steel or aluminum. Use of either metal greatly reduces the life of the lift, and may even require periodic cleaning for proper operation of the unit. No cleaning is required on an AirBerth.
- An AirBerth is versatile and fits into all slip configurations. It requires no hard mounting, therefore it can be easily moved from slip to slip and inflicts no damage to existing docks. It requires no pilings or heavy equipment at your dock site. It simply ties up to your dock as you would tie a boat and is only slightly wider than the boat at the water line.
- The unique self-centering mooring guides and bow saddle of the AirBerth allows you to launch or dock your boat single handedly as it will position your boat every time without damaging the gel coat.
- An AirBerth has a stealth low profile appearance and is UV stable. The black color absorbs light so it blends into the marine environment. Most boating communities typically against boat lifts for aesthetic reasons find no reason to protest the installation of an AirBerth. In fact, many places require no permitting process because an AirBerth is not a permanent installation, "blends in" to the environment, and is aesthetically unobtrusive.
- No anti fouling paint will be required on your boat, improving your boats performance and reducing fuel consumption. Electrolysis is eliminated when the boat is lifted so zinc replacement is virtually a thing of the past. Also, your boat's impact on the environment is nearly eliminated because it no longer leeches bottom paint or oxidized metals into the water.
- Your boat's condition and therefore resale value over time is vastly improved because of it's lack of marine growth, blisters and corrosion. In short, you will enjoy a nicer boat longer and more often, and then benefit from a higher resale value when it comes time to sell your boat.
- The long life expectancy of an AirBerth not only means years of trouble-free, maintenance-free life for your lift, but also that the lift maintains a high resale value. A 55% resale value at 5 years is common for an AirBerth – so when it comes time to upgrade or downgrade your boat, not only will your boat be worth more due to it's better condition, but you’ll have an easily portable lift – with a resale value – to sell. Compare that with other floating lift systems that are often a pile of rust at five years, or to a “four post” lift that not only has no value, but actually costs to remove and have disposed.
In short, you can purchase a less expensive lift, but you will never buy a better one!
Contact us and let us install an AirBerth for you today - the investment will not only pay for itself, but you'll have a lot more fun with your boat!
